Full release of the “Tractor: Driving & Operations at the Aircraft ” module. With the addition of Driving Training, Coupling Carts to a Tractor, Towing Carts on the Apron, and Exam, this concludes the Tractor training, covering both the Equipment 101 and At the Aircraft modules.
Error-based safety scenarios: Demonstrations of incorrect coupling and towing techniques highlight real-world accident risks.
Two new collection modules — GSE Safety Essentials and Day on the Ramp — showcase key lessons from across the library for demonstration and onboarding purposes.
Observer feature improvements: More stable and network-compatible streaming for trainer supervision.
NEW: Tractor — Driving & Operations at the Aircraft
Driving Training
Teaches the basic driving operation of the tractor in an open apron training area.
Covers brake and gear check, ignition procedure, controlled acceleration and braking.
Practices steering left and right, following a designated driving path, and performing a brake-test exercise with emergency-stop scenarios.
Trains reverse driving
Ends with proper parking and engine shutdown sequence.
Coupling Carts to a Tractor
Teaches the complete coupling procedure between a tractor and a baggage cart train on a live apron.
Starts with inspecting the area around the tractor and starting it, then positioning and parking precisely in front of the baggage cart train without crossing into the ERA.
Requires setting the parking brake, neutral gear, and enabling the inching system before exiting the cabin.
Guides the trainee through releasing and aligning the cart’s drawbar, inching the tractor backward safely, and inserting the tow pin at the correct middle hitch level.
Emphasizes awareness of the crush-zone - trainees must never stand between tractor and carts during inching.
Ends with performing the mandatory safety shake check to confirm the tow pin is locked and secured.
Towing Carts on the Apron
Teaches towing operations with a baggage cart train across a live apron.
Continues directly from the previous lesson with carts already coupled.
Focuses on safe route planning, forward-only driving, and performing a mandatory brake test before entering the ERA.
Guides trainees to approach the aircraft and position the carts correctly at the belt loader.
Trains safe unhitching of the first cart including tow-pin removal, drawbar repositioning, reinsertion, and the mandatory safety shake check.
Includes error cases for reversing with carts, skipping the brake test, or driving under aircraft wings.
Topics covered include correct start-up and shutdown sequence, safe driving behavior on the apron, proper coupling and decoupling of baggage carts, correct use of the inching function, and safe towing practices.
Tests the trainee’s understanding of operational sequencing, speed control, and hazard awareness while maneuvering near the aircraft.
Confirms the trainee’s competence to operate the tractor independently in live apron conditions, including coupling, towing, and parking of baggage carts.
Further Changes relevant for customers/GTM
Added two Collection Modules: GSE Safety Essentials and Day on the Ramp including in total 11 lessons from other modules
Trainer Portal: Increased stability of Observer feature (improved network error handling, incl. auto-reconnect, if internet connection is lost)
Observer feature now works within common airport network security environments
