Description

Trains to safely receive and stack baggage inside the aircraft cargo hold after it arrives via the belt loader. The lesson focuses on ergonomic movement, posture control, and precision stacking to ensure balance, safety, and efficiency in the confined cargo environment.

Lesson Overview

  1. 1Correct positioning and posture inside the cargo hold
  2. 2Confirmation and coordination with the outside colleague
  3. 3Slide or lift each baggage piece into the correct position, depending on height
  4. 4Consistent application of ergonomic movement and stacking accuracy

Skills Acquired

  • Receive and handle baggage ergonomically while kneeling in a confined space
  • Apply correct two-step stacking flow: slide first, lift only when necessary
  • Maintain balance, posture, and precision during multi-level stacking
  • Coordinate with the colleague on the apron
  • Ensure secure, space-efficient baggage placement for aircraft balance

Lesson Procedure

  • The trainee begins kneeling inside the cargo hold, facing the belt loader.
  • The trainee looks outside to confirm readiness and coordination with the colleague on the apron. Once acknowledged, the first baggage item approaches.
  • For the first three pieces, the trainee grabs each with both hands and slides them smoothly over the floor into the designated lower-row positions. Correct placements are confirmed with success feedback, while delays or misplacement trigger rewinds.
  • For the fourth and fifth pieces, the trainee follows a two-step process:
    • Step 1: Slide the baggage near its upper-row location.
    • Step 2: Lift it carefully into the highlighted storage position, ensuring minimal lift height and stable posture.
  • Each action is reinforced with success sounds, while incorrect angles, lifting too high, or collisions with the aircraft structure prompt audio or visual warnings and rewinds.
  • The lesson concludes when all five baggage pieces are stacked correctly, confirming ergonomic precision, spatial awareness, and teamwork in live aircraft loading conditions.

Safety Scenarios & Learnings
