Headset Communication

VRVirtual Reality

Description

The Headset Communication VR Training Course equips ramp personnel with the procedural confidence to coordinate aircraft pushback operations through correct headset communication. The course covers the complete pushback communication procedure—from establishing contact and conducting pre-pushback safety checks, through executing the pushback and clearing the cockpit for engine start, to equipment disconnection and final taxi clearance—using standard aviation phraseology throughout. Immersive simulations, built-in feedback and advanced practice modes train exact communication sequences and correct phraseology before trainees progress to live operations.

Scope of Course

  • Course with 6 lessons, two of which are to be released soon, combining guided practice and assessment
  • Includes multiple-choice exam for final examination of headset communication skills
  • Covers the complete headset communication procedure: preparing the pushback, executing the pushback maneuver, and finishing up with equipment disconnection and taxi clearance
  • Designed for new ground handling personnel preparing for live pushback operations

Operational Training

Learning Outcomes

  • Trains exact standard phraseology for all pushback communication phases from preparation through taxi clearance
  • Establishes correct communication sequence discipline to prevent miscommunication and procedural errors during pushback operations
  • Builds coordination skills between headset master, pushback driver, and cockpit using standard hand signals and headset communication
  • Reinforces safety-critical verbal confirmations including parking brake status, steering bypass pin insertion, engine start clearance, and equipment disconnection
  • Validates theoretical readiness through exam-based knowledge assessment before trainees progress to live pushback operations

Training Methodology

  • Immersive Virtual Reality simulation replicating real ramp and apron environments
  • Realistic headset and equipment interaction including connection to the aircraft, hand signals, and communication interface
  • Step-by-step guidance and contextual instruction throughout all communication phases
  • Immediate feedback and implemented error scenarios to reinforce correct phraseology and communication sequence discipline
  • Knowledge assessment through a multiple-choice exam covering all communication procedures and safety protocols
